NPP Primaries : Wontumi declares Asante Mampong MP unopposed

Pbwebghana.com can confirm ,that some prospective parliamentary candidates of the ruling NPP in the Ashanti region, would have to abandon their dreams and yield to the incumbent Members of Parliament.

The regional chairman of the ruling party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi confirmed the fear, when he revealed, that the member of Parliament for Asante Mampong Constituency, Hon. Ampratwum Sarpong is going unopposed in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.

He told the constituency executives, that the MP is seriously executing his mandate to better the lot of the people in the Constituency and the party and for that matter needs to be protected.

“I’m officially launching Agenda 47/47 and I can see Hon. Ampratwum to be part of the team to win elections 2020/2024 and beyond, so I need him” Wontumi said.

“ Tell anybody who wants to contest Hon. Ampratwum, that I Chairman Wontumi came here and told you that, that person should stop and support him because, he will not be contested” he charged the party executives.

Wontumi was speaking at the commissioning of a 6-Unit classroom block at Kofiase SDA Senior High and Technical School.

The program was graced by the Minister of Special Development Initiative, Hon. Hawa Koomson, Member of Parliament for Asante Mampong, Hon. Ampratwum Sarpong, the MCE of Asante Mampong, Hon. Appiah Kubi, the Board Chairman for the Middle Belt Development Commission, Hon. Alex Korankye and the Chiefs and people of Kofiase.

There is a widespread rumour making the rounds in the region that, there is a covert attempt by the party executives in the region to ensure that incumbent MPs who have links with party power brokers in the region and who are ready to “grease” the palms of the Executives, could go unopposed in the January, 2020 primaries.

Wontumi believes that the campaign he has launched to annex all 47 seats in the region needs MPs who can use their resources to support the party towards achieving the agenda 2020 and beyond, hence Hon Ampratwum must go unopposed.
