Stop campaigning for NO votes and start fighting for responsible and accountable politics – Lawyer Victor Kusi Writes

People are talking about this referendum issue as if they never belonged to Ghana. They are talking about all the negatives of politics, as if the politicians descended from the moon to rule over us.

If politics has bred division in our society, if politicians marginalize section of society, if politics breeds corruption and if politics has become a weapon of mass destruction, none of us talking can absolve ourselves of blame.

People climb the ladder of politics on our shoulders. It is us, the same Ghanaians who patronise them, pamper them, glorify them, take monies from them to put them where they are, even when it is glaring that they don’t fit where they seek to enter.

Your NO vote will mean nothing, if we don’t stop raising the politician to the level of God. It is we that employ them and maintain them with our taxes, but we are afraid to call them to order when they err.

Stop campaigning for NO votes and start fighting for responsible and accountable politics. Stop playing the ostrich. A NO vote is a waste of effort, because you are the very person who will invite the same politicians into your local politics.

Good night.
