The dust, the journey and the poor road network couldn’t stop the Inspector General of Police Mr.James Oppong Boanuh, as he accepted the invitation from the number one gentleman of Amansie South District Mr.William Asante Bediako to stormed Manso Adubia to commission a newly-constructed district police headquarters at Manso-Adubia in the Amansie South District to beef up security in the area.
The project,which was started by the traditional royalties from Manso Adubia traditional council proceeds to be completed by the District Assembly assembly seeks to address the perennial security challenges in the area.
The District, which was previously captain by Amansie West District Command since it was crooked out of that District in 2015 by the ruling New Patriotic Party can now vaunt of its own District Police command.
The colourful ceremony was witnessed by some prominent people within Manso Adubia enclaves together with the traditional rulers and other personalities like the Inspector General of Police, Ashanti Regional Minister, Chief of Manso Adubia and the Amansie South District Chief Executive and Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP/ Mr. Kwasi Mensah Duku, to commissioned the District Police Headquarters and Station.
Addressing the gathering at the event, which took place on Tuesday 19th November, 2019 the IGP praised Nananom and the Assembly for putting up a magnificent edifice for use by the Police Administration. He used the occasion to reiterate his advise to police officers to be professional in the performance of duty. For officers who will be working in the facility, he instructed them to maintain the facility at all times. IGP also assured Nananom and the people of Adubia of Police Administration’s readiness to support the District Command by providing the necessary resources for work to begin immediately.
The Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah also thanked the Traditional Council and the District
Assembly for seeing to the completion of the project. He reiterated IGP’s call for maintenance culture and urged officers who will work in the building to keep it clean. Again, he called for collaboration from the community members in fighting crime and the galamsey menace.
On his part, the District Chief Executive, Hon. William Bediako Asante in his welcome address said that the District Police Command project was the brain child of the chiefs and people of Manso Adubia with support of the District Assembly for its completion.
Nana Appiah Dankwah II, Manso Adubiahene who chaired the ceremony also thanked the IGP for honouring the invitation to officially commission the building and promised the traditional council’s support for the District Command. He also made an appeal for a vehicle for the Command, to which the IGP promised to be delivered. The Adubiahene singled out Detective Sergeant Job Nyame for commendation and said that it was the initiative of the Seargeant, who hails from Manso Subreso Besease which made construction of the District Police Headquarters a reality. He appealed to the IGP to commend Sergeant Nyame for the remarkable example.
